Life after a curve ball : coping with crisis

    Post 2 of 3

You know how it is: you are cruising along thinking that you are coping with the problems that life throws up until THE problem comes at you. You didn’t see it coming and it knocks you right off course.

So how do you get back on track? How do you manage the feelings of loss? How do you regain some sense of control when you feel like your life is careering towards a precipice?

We can have many wonderful sources of support – family, friends, faith, work. However, at some point you have to look inside and find out what the stuff is that you are made of.

Of-course crisis doesn’t have to be all negative. In the words of Eckard Tolle – “some changes look negative on the surface but you will soon realize that space is being created in your life for something new to emerge”.
As the “something new” emerges, we may experience a time of adjustment, of change and sometimes of loss.

In my next few blogs, we will look at ways of regaining our balance, resetting our sat nav and resuming our journey in the knowledge that we may be heading for a different destination than we had previously planned for. Initially, we will look at ways of drawing courage from the people and the world around us before exploring ways of increasing our own resilence and our ability to navigate the storms as well as the calm.
